We see kids as amazing, awesome members of God’s family.
We work hard to ensure that kids learn deep truths about the Bible and grow as disciples in Christ. Most Sundays we have Bible classes where kids dig into the word at an age-appropriate level through fun games, crafts, worship, and lessons, as they learn from our team of leaders. We value your kids so we make sure that they learn in the safest environment imaginable. We screen all our leaders, give them background checks, and offer training to help them grow as disciples. We also have a safety implemented check in/out system to make sure that your kids never leave with someone who should not have access to them.
You might have noticed that it said that we have Bible classes most Sundays. It says most Sundays because usually we have our children in service with their families once a month. This is a big part of what makes Park Avenue unique. Too often today churches have become segmented into different little churches based on age level, but this is not the case here. At Park Avenue, we deeply believe in inter-generational ministry. We want to see kids and parents worshiping and learning together as a family. Therefore, even on Sundays with Bible classes, we open church together before breaking off into our groups.
We believe that parents are the greatest spiritual influence in a child’s life and we want to foster that. We make sure from infancy, we are giving parents the support and tools to impact their children. For instance, we have special baby dedications for new little members of our congregation. Each month, we also offer a new tool to parents, usually in the form of an article, so they can feel more equipped. Parents correspondingly receive information on the upcoming lessons to pre-teach at home.
Finally, the best way we represent our love for children is by recognizing they are full-fledged members of the Body of Christ. This means we do not just teach basic stories but we work on discipleship. It means that when we have an event we make sure there is time to focus on their relationship with God. We also encourage kids to find different ways to serve our local body and the world.
